Warner Bros confirm rebooting Lost Boys

Once again it would seem that Warner Bros are going to destroy another cult classic.
Warner Bros have confirmed that they are rebooting Lost Boys. Originally made back in 1987 it was a huge hit with the fans and included up and coming huge stars such as Kiefer Sutherland and Corey Feldman. Hitting an 8.7 on imdb making it one of the best vampire films ever made.
Synopsis of original: Financial troubles force a recent divorcee and her teenage sons Mike and Sam to settle down with her father in the California town of Santa Carla. At first, Sam laughs off rumours he hears about vampires who inhabit the small town. But after Mike meets a beautiful girl at the local amusement park, he begins to exhibit the classic signs of vampirism. Fearing for his own safety, Sam recruits two young vampire hunters to save his brother by finding and destroying the head vampire.
But now it has been confirmed that it will rebooted starring Noah Jupe and Jaeden Martell. Jupe starred in the “A Quiet Place” films and appeared in “The Undoing” and “Honey Boy,” while Martell was part of the “It” movies ensemble and starred in the “Defending Jacob” series as well as appearing in “Knives Out” and “Masters of Sex.”.
Warner brothers have also confirmed Jonathan Entwistle will direct and the new version will be rewritten by Randy McKinnon.
The pilot for a “Lost Boys” TV series at The CW had been in production but  when the pandemic hit filming shut down and the studios never picked it up. 2 sequels were also made both with Corey Feldman. They both failed to meet the quality of the first and unfortunately both went straight to video.
My only hope is that they don’t try and follow the same story and rewrite it so it could be a completely different film, like they did with Mad Max: Fury Road
